UALR Exchange Program at Université d'Orléans in Orleans, France

SLP France 2014
UALR Summer Language Program 2014

Location
France is the largest country in Western Europe and has been known for centuries for its rich cultural tradition of arts, fashion and philosophy.  As you study French language, you will join the world of almost 76 million French speakers around the globe.  During your stay in Orleans, you will be exposed to French language, culture and life.  Get ready for a new and exciting experience!  The exchange program at the Universite d'Orleans was established decades ago in order to give UALR French language students an edge in their studies.  Students studying in Orleans will be welcomed with open arms to the Orleans and their host family.

Academics
The exchange program at Universite d'Orleans offers UALR French Majors the opportunity to study French in a contextualized setting.  You will be exposed to the French language and culture through the university and your studies.  This semester exchange is designed specifically for French langauge students and offers between 12-15 hours of Language credit at UALR.

Study Abroad Coursework: Prior to departure, all study abroad students are required to have their study abroad coursework pre-approved using the appropriate Course Pre-Approval Form.  Study Abroad will work with you to meet with the appropriate advisers and academic departments to do so in a timely manner.

Registering for Classes: Upon submission of a completed Study Abroad Course Pre-Approval Form, Study Abroad will directly enroll you in the appropriate number of Consortium hours. The Study Abroad Consortium Placeholder Courses (CONS) allow you to maintain your enrollment at UALR while abroad.

Transcripts and Grades: All study abroad students are responsible for ensuring that UALR Study Abroad receives an official transcript from their host institution.  Note that your host institution may take longer than expected to produce your official transcript. Upon receipt of the official transcript, Study Abroad will send the Study Abroad Course Pre-Approval Form and transcript to the appropriate academic department for final grading.  The final grades will be submitted to UALR Records and Registration for processing as UALR credit, and will count toward students' GPA.

Costs
Students will be assessed UALR tuition and fees for 12-15 credit hours for each semester they study abroad on this exchange.  Students are also responsible for their round-trip airfare, housing, meals, local transportation, books, passport, student visa, and other personal expenses.  UALR exchange programs allow students to determine their own extracurricular activities and housing options, giving each student the ability to opt for choices that meet their budget requirements.  Click on the Budget above for an estimated cost of attendance.

Scholarships & Financial Aid
Most financial aid and scholarships that is processed through UALR can be approved for your participation in a UALR exchange program.  To determine which of your scholarships and/or your Federal Financial Aid (including Pell Grants, SEOG Grants, Stafford Loans and Perkins Loans) can be used toward a study abroad program, please contact UALR Financial Aid.

There are a number of scholarships that can be used for study abroad.  For additional information, visit our Scholarships section at www.ualr.edu/studyabroad/financial.
